Program learning outcomes outline what Mohawk's graduates need to know and be able to do after they complete this program.

Initially, most program learning outcomes were developed by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities (MTCU) in consultation with employers and educators. Now, they are reviewed and updated during program review, in consultation with employers, graduates, and current students.

Vocational Standards

The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

1. Analyze routine technical problems to provide solutions in manufacturing environments.
2. Conduct routine analysis of components, processes and systems in the application of engineering principles and practices.
3. Interpret and prepare graphics and other technical documents according to engineering standards.
4. Use modern and emerging technologies to support the engineering environment and enhance processes according to current industry standards and needs.
5. Prepare and maintain documentation, inventory, and records to ensure the integrity of the information and workflow control.
6. Plan and test products, methods and equipment to support production systems and outputs.
7. Use machinery, tools and other equipment to manufacture and assemble components.
8. Conduct quality control and quality assurance procedures to support manufacturing processes.
9. Adhere to environmental, economic, legal, safety, and ethical standards and principles in manufacturing.
10. Support the planning and implementation of manufacturing engineering projects to meet specified timelines and deliverables.
11. Develop and apply strategies for professional development to enhance work performance and relationship building.
12. Select and apply appropriate welding processes, materials, and inspection techniques to fabricate and repair components and assemblies.
13. Assemble, troubleshoot, and maintain basic hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in manufacturing operations.
14. Plan and execute rigging and hoisting operations safely and in compliance with legislation and industry practices.

Essential Employability Skills

All graduates with the following Ontario College credentials, Ontario College Certificate, Ontario College Diploma and Ontario College Advanced Diploma, must be able to reliably demonstrate Essential Employability Skills in a combination of the following 11 skill areas:

1. Respond to written, spoken or visual messages in a manner that ensures effective communication.
2. Execute mathematical operations accurately.
3. Apply a systematic approach to solve problems.
4. Use a variety of thinking skills to anticipate and solve problems.
5. Show respect for diverse opinions, values, belief systems and contributions of others.
6. Manage the use of time and other resources to complete projects.
7. Take responsibility for one's own actions, decisions and consequences.
