Program learning outcomes outline what Mohawk's graduates need to know and be able to do after they complete this program.

Initially, most program learning outcomes were developed by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities (MTCU) in consultation with employers and educators. Now, they are reviewed and updated during program review, in consultation with employers, graduates, and current students.

Vocational Standards

The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

1. Identify, analyze, design, develop, implement, verify and document the requirements for a computing environment.
2. Diagnose, troubleshoot, document and monitor technical problems using appropriate methodologies and tools.
3. Analyze, design, implement and maintain secure computing environments.
4. Analyze, develop and maintain robust computing system solutions through validation testing and industry best practices.
5. Communicate and collaborate with team members and stakeholders to ensure effective working relationships.
6. Select and apply strategies for personal and professional development to enhance work performance.
7. Apply project management principles and tools when responding to requirements and monitoring projects within a computing environment.
8. Adhere to ethical, social media, legal, regulatory and economic requirements and/or principles in the development and management of the computing solutions and systems.
9. Investigate emerging trends to respond to technical challenges.
10. Analyze, plan, design, implement and administer computer systems and cloud solutions.
11. Research, design, deploy, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade, and decommission information systems infrastructure for a secure computer systems environment.
12. Select and apply scripting tools and programming languages to automate routine tasks.
13. Install, monitor, optimize and administer a database management system in response to specified requirements.
14. Design, implement, and administer technical support processes for information system infrastructure that aligns with industry best practice.
15. Configure, implement, and manage security devices and equipment considering the unique features of the computer operating systems, networks, applications and software.
16. Implement and evaluate security solutions for business processes, applications and communications to protect business resources and respond to the needs of all the internal stakeholders.
17. Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing for infrastructures, web and applications, using both manual and automated techniques.
18. Perform security audits and forensic analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of a security system, and identify and correct security vulnerabilities.

Essential Employability Skills

All graduates with the following Ontario College credentials, Ontario College Certificate, Ontario College Diploma and Ontario College Advanced Diploma, must be able to reliably demonstrate Essential Employability Skills in a combination of the following 11 skill areas:

1. Communicate clearly, concisely and correctly in the written, spoken and visual form that fulfills the purpose and meets the needs of the audience.
2. Respond to written, spoken or visual messages in a manner that ensures effective communication.
3. Apply a systematic approach to solve problems.
4. Use a variety of thinking skills to anticipate and solve problems.
5. Manage the use of time and other resources to complete projects.
