Program learning outcomes outline what Mohawk's graduates need to know and be able to do after they complete this program.
Initially, most program learning outcomes were developed by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities (MTCU) in consultation with employers and educators. Now, they are reviewed and updated during program review, in consultation with employers, graduates, and current students.

Vocational Standards
The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:
- Analyze evolving sustainability principles, economic models, social responsibility, and climate justice to support organizational goals and decision making.
- Apply environmental science, including carbon science and energy conservation principles relating to the natural and built environments, to sustainability challenges and solutions.
- Use project management tools and principles, and collaborative skills, to plan and coordinate cross-disciplinary sustainability projects.
- Use change leadership principles, systems thinking, and inclusionary practices to foster a culture of sustainability, support strategic change, and promote organizational advancement on social and environmental issues.
- Clearly communicate complex sustainability and technical concepts to diverse audiences orally, in writing, and digitally, using formal reporting, dashboards, and storytelling narratives.
- Use marketing strategies, facilitation techniques, and effective communication to engage internal and external stakeholders on sustainability initiatives, and to support an organization’s brand.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate departmental sustainability initiatives that support the organizational strategic plan and meet regulatory requirements.
- Use software, tools, and relevant statistics to collect, model and analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative data to support strategic and operational decisions.
- Prepare and present comprehensive reports and documentation, for various audiences, that translate technical data to communicate the sustainability performance, impacts, and regulatory compliance of an organization or business.
- Analyze political, economic, and social dimensions of environmental problems and organizational practices to inform policy and governance decisions, including compliance with relevant regulations and regulatory frameworks.
- Apply research methods, systems thinking, and problem-solving frameworks to design and implement research projects.
- Support business case development with consideration for the current and future financial, environmental, and social impacts of sustainability technologies, initiatives, and practices.
- Develop and present a plan to support on-going personal sustainability commitments and professional development to remain current in the evolving field of sustainability.
