Program learning outcomes outline what Mohawk's graduates need to know and be able to do after they complete this program.
Initially, most program learning outcomes were developed by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities (MTCU) in consultation with employers and educators. Now, they are reviewed and updated during program review, in consultation with employers, graduates, and current students.

Vocational Standards
The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:
- Produce and assess a variety of high quality diagnostic images employing current technologies for image acquisition and processing
- Interpret requests and adapt procedures according to patient needs and diagnostic imaging requirements in routine and complex clinical cases
- Maintain compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and ethical standards governing nuclear medicine practice, to ensure the highest standards of patient safety, confidentiality, and professional integrity
- Employ established radiation safety protocols and health practices to safeguard oneself, patients, their families, and healthcare team members from potential radiation hazards in diverse clinical settings
- Provide compassionate and culturally sensitive care to diverse patient populations throughout the nuclear medicine imaging and therapeutic intervention process to integrate patient advocacy and education into clinical practice
- Monitor patients' condition continuously during nuclear medicine procedures and respond to emergency situations as indicated to ensure patient well-being and safety at all times
- Prepare, calibrate, operate, troubleshoot, and evaluate a variety of complex nuclear medicine imaging and auxiliary equipment safely and efficiently to ensure optimal equipment performance and reliability
- Analyze a wide range of nuclear medicine images with accuracy to assist physicians in diagnosing and managing various systemic disorders
- Interact with patients, their families, healthcare team members, and the public using clear and empathetic communication skills, to foster effective interpersonal relationships and promote understanding and cooperation
- Provide quality care in nuclear medicine by educating patients, committing to continuous learning and collaborating with various teams according to the scope of practice
- Employ appropriate infection prevention and control practices to maintain the sterility of pharmaceutical and radiopharmaceutical products utilized in routine nuclear medicine procedures
