Program learning outcomes outline what Mohawk's graduates need to know and be able to do after they complete this program.
Initially, most program learning outcomes were developed by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities (MTCU) in consultation with employers and educators. Now, they are reviewed and updated during program review, in consultation with employers, graduates, and current students.

Vocational Standards
The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:
- Apply innovative information technology, solutions and assessment to a range of challenges, needs and opportunities facing libraries and information services.
- Complete all work in compliance with professional standards, relevant policies, practices, processes and procedures and employ relevant knowledge, skills, ethical judgements and behaviours in workplace environments.
- Collect, analyze and assess user experience information and respond to stakeholder priorities in a way that meets their needs.
- Analyze, evaluate and propose new information and service platforms and technologies to add value to the user experience and to library operations and processes.
- Develop and present a plan that addresses changes within the library and information services industry and enhances library operations.
- Collect, manage and interpret data to identify trends, issues and needs in the workplace and to develop appropriate and reliable measurement systems.
- Develop and apply strategies for personal, career and professional development to enhance work performance and maintain currency within the industry.
- Use a variety of project management practices and procedures to identify stakeholder needs to effectively manage and implement change.
- Communicate accurately, persuasively, and credibly to internal and external industry stakeholders.
Essential Employability Skills
All graduates with the following Ontario College credentials, Ontario College Certificate, Ontario College Diploma and Ontario College Advanced Diploma, must be able to reliably demonstrate Essential Employability Skills in a combination of the following 11 skill areas:
- Communicate clearly, concisely and correctly in the written, spoken and visual form that fulfills the purpose and meets the needs of the audience.
- Respond to written, spoken or visual messages in a manner that ensures effective communication.
- Execute mathematical operations accurately.
- Apply a systematic approach to solve problems.
- Use a variety of thinking skills to anticipate and solve problems.
- Locate, select, organize and document information using appropriate technology and information systems.
- Analyze, evaluate and apply relevant information from a variety of sources.
- Show respect for diverse opinions, values, belief systems and contributions of others.
- Interact with others in groups or teams in ways that contribute to effective working relationships and the achievement of goals.
- Manage the use of time and other resources to complete projects.
- Take responsibility for one's own actions, decisions and consequences.
